In Tai Po, Hong Kong, there exists a mangrove forest often referred to as the “Little Amazon of Hong Kong,” which is truly worth exploring. This time, Discovery is launching an exciting kayaking adventure— the Little Amazon in Hong Kong Mangrove Adventure! We will embark on a kayak journey to the sea to uncover the mysteries of these enchanting mangroves.
The mangroves of Tai Po are part of a natural ecological protection area, home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including flocks of egrets, sea crabs, and various marine species. Not far from the mangroves, we can observe their lives quietly from a distance; however, it is imperative that we do not disturb them!
Not far from the mangrove, there exists a traditional fishing restaurant in Hong Kong that originated in the mid-20th century. Fishermen initially constructed simple structures directly on the sea to facilitate the sale of fresh seafood. Over time, this establishment gradually evolved into a seafood restaurant specializing in freshly caught and prepared dishes. The restaurant features a wooden structure and is surrounded by water, enhancing its unique charm. Its specialty lies in using fresh ingredients, with an emphasis on catch-and-cook seafood options such as various types of fish and shrimp. The primary cooking methods employed are steaming and boiling, which help retain the original flavors of the ingredients. (Note: The tour fee does not include meals. Fish dishes range from 40 to 200 HKD per person, depending on individual preferences.)
